Nova Raiders Route 66 Sportive 2018

This year's "Route 66 Sportive" is being held on Saturday 12th May 2018. We have two courses available: Route 66 and Route 33.

Start and Finish will be from The Lodge, Newport Showground, Chetwynd Deer Park, Newport, Shropshire. TF10 8EU

Nova Raiders will be making a donation to Myeloma UK. Michael Jeggo was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, a life limiting cancer of the plasma cells in the bone marrow in 2009. He has battled against it for 9 years and his family are convinced that his longevity is due to his intrinsic levels of fitness from cycling for many decades. Michael has promoted many events in Newport, including 4 editions of the National Road Race Championships in the 80's and 90's and in more recent years the Newport Nocturne. See this link for more details.

The Small Print

Please remember that this is not a race and the roads are not closed. The road surface can vary in condition with loose grit and pot holes. You may encounter wide agricultural vehicles on narrow lanes. Never ride more than two abreast and single file on narrow lanes. Be considerate to other road users.

You should carry basic tools, inner tubes and a pump to fix punctures or mechanical problems you may experience. A basic first aid kit is also recommended. Spare inner tubes and basic spares are on sale on the day. There will be mechanical support if needed prior to the start. This support should not be relied on to fix existing problems with your bike, but to help resolve any problems that have occurred on the way to the event.

It is advisable to bring lights and high visibility clothing on days where fog or rain is forecast or where light is likely to be reduced.

I understand that I participate in these events entirely at my own risk and must rely on my own ability in dealing with hazards and ride in a manner that is safe for myself and others. Riders must abide by the highway code at all times. I agree that no liability whatsoever shall be attached to the organiser, promoting club, and or any official body attached to or in connection to this promotion, in respect of injury, loss or damage suffered by me, however caused. The function of the marshals is only to indicate direction and that riders must decide whether the movement is safe.

A safety approved cycling helmet must be worn. No helmet, no ride.

Under 16's to be accompanied by an Adult.

Follow the Highway code, and please look out for each others safety.
