This year's Route 66 Sportive is being held on Saturday 3rd July 2021.

We've moved the event from it's usual early May slot due to Covid restrictions.

We have three courses available: BRoute 99, Route 66 and Route 33. BRoute 99 was new in 2019 and is intended to provide that extra challenge over and above what we previously offered.

All proceeds to Newport CC 'Bike Club' and Newport (Shropshire) Foodbank

We are delighted to announce that this year's Route 66 sportive is supporting two great local causes: Newport CC 'Bike Club' and Newport (Shropshire) Foodbank.

Nova Raiders' Chairman Gary Wade said:

"This is a fantastic opportunity for both Newport cycling clubs to come together and help support the local community, especially assisting young riders who are the lifeblood of our clubs. In addition to the Newport Cycling Clubs initiative the event will also support the Newport Foodbank in providing breakfast and holiday packs for those who have found the pandemic so challenging.

Nova Raiders and Newport Cycling Club are proud to help our local community and thank you all for your support in continuing to 'make the difference'."

The Small Print

  1. Please remember that this is not a race and the roads are not closed. The road surface can vary in condition with loose grit and pot holes. You may encounter wide agricultural vehicles on narrow lanes. Never ride more than two abreast and single file on narrow lanes. Be considerate to other road users.
  2. You should carry basic tools, inner tubes and a pump to fix punctures or mechanical problems you may experience. A basic first aid kit is also recommended. Spare inner tubes and basic spares are on sale on the day. There will be mechanical support if needed prior to the start. This support should not be relied on to fix existing problems with your bike, but to help resolve any problems that have occurred on the way to the event.
  3. It is advisable to bring lights and high visibility clothing on days where fog or rain is forecast or where light is likely to be reduced.
  4. I understand that I participate in these events entirely at my own risk and must rely on my own ability in dealing with hazards and ride in a manner that is safe for myself and others. Riders must abide by the highway code at all times. I agree that no liability whatsoever shall be attached to the organiser, promoting club, and or any official body attached to or in connection to this promotion, in respect of injury, loss or damage suffered by me, however caused. The function of the marshals is only to indicate direction and that riders must decide whether the movement is safe.
  5. A safety approved cycling helmet must be worn. No helmet, no ride.
  6. Under 16's to be accompanied by an Adult.
  7. Follow the Highway code, and please look out for each others safety.
